This article will provide a complete walkthrough of processing a service outcome from start to finish. The "Configuration prerequisites" section below lists items in your configurations that will need to be completed prior to processing a service outcome.
Before you complete a service outcome, you will need to make sure you have the following items configured and set up properly in your Shelterluv account:
Processing a service outcome from a person record
To begin, navigate to the "Animals" tab on the person record that the in-custody animal is associated with. From there, select the green "Service Out" button and choose from one of your configured service outcome subtypes.
Remember, if you assigned the animal record a service intake subtype that was set not to count toward your reporting numbers, you will need to make sure you assign the animal record a service outcome subtype that is also set not to count toward your reporting numbers to avoid throwing off your intake and outcome numbers.
Once you select the appropriate subtype, select the grey "Complete Outcome" button. You will then have the option to add an outcome memo if needed. Select the blue "Save" button to complete the service outcome.
Completing the checkout
Once you select the blue "Save" button, the outcome is complete. However, you will be given the option to complete a checkout with the owner if needed (steps below). If you do not need to charge the owner anything at the time of completing the service outcome, you can simply leave the shopping cart item screen knowing the animal has been outcomed correctly from your Shelterluv account.
Once you have located the appropriate shopping cart item(s), select the green "Add to Cart" button and then the grey "Checkout" button. Remember, you can add multiple items at once on this screen.
From here, you can text the checkout link through Shelterpay by selecting the blue "Continue with Payment" button. Once the customer receives the link and opens it, they will be able to review the transaction and give a donation if they choose to. Processing a service outcome from a partner record
To begin, navigate to the "Partners" tab on your main dashboard page. From here, select the blue "Add" button and choose "New Service Out" in the dropdown menu next to the appropriate partner record.
Once selected, you will be brought to a screen where you can choose the animal record that needs to be serviced out to the partner. Select the green "Service Out" button next to the appropriate animal record and complete the service out form that is displayed. Once you select the blue "Save" button, the service outcome will be completed and the animal record will no longer display as one of your in-custody animals.
Frequently asked questions
How do I prevent service outcomes from impacting my outcome reporting numbers?
Shelterluv makes this very simple and easy to do through your outcome subtypes. An outcome will either count or not count toward your outcome and reporting numbers based on the outcome subtype that is given to the animal on the outcome form.
If the outcome subtype is configured as "Yes" under the "Count Towards Outcome Numbers" column, then this animal will appear in your reports and count in your outcome numbers. If the outcome subtype is configured as "No" under the "Count towards outcome numbers" column, then this animal will not appear in your reports nor will it count in your outcome numbers.
