This article will provide a complete walkthrough on how to process a feral/wildlife intake from start to finish. The "Configuration prerequisites" section below lists items in your configurations that will need to be completed prior to processing a feral/wildlife intake.

Configuration prerequisites

Before you complete a feral/wildlife intake, you will need to make sure you have the following items configured and set up properly in your Shelterluv account:

Processing a feral/wildlife intake

To begin, navigate to the appropriate person record in your Shelterluv account and select the "Animals" tab. From here, choose the "Found Wildlife/Feral" option in the dropdown menu from the blue "Add Animal" button.

Once selected, you will be presented with your configured feral/wildlife intake form to fill out.

You will need to assign the animal a status when completing the intake form. It may also be necessary to add a status review date based on your organization's requirements. You can learn more about using our status review date feature in this article.

Once this form is filled out and you select the blue "Next" button, the animal will be fully intaked into your account. On the following screen, you will be able to:

  • Navigate to the animal record
  • Navigate to your main animal dashboard
  • Print the kennel card
  • Clone the animal (see this article for more details)
  • Start an intake exam

How do I re-intake an animal record that was previously a feral/wildlife release?

At the moment, Shelterluv's user interface does not have a way to allow an animal previously released as feral/wildlife to be re-intaked. However, if you want to retain the event history on the animal's record please contact our support team and they can provide you a special intake form for that specific animal record.
