Shelterluv's integration with Fi Nano works using an API key rather than FTP credentials like some of the other integrations. For more information, please contact .

Setting up your Fi Nano integration

First, make sure you have a Fi Nano account set up. If you do not, you can get started by applying at nano.tryfi.com/apply.

Next, generate an API key for Fi Nano. If you need a quick step-by-step guide on how to do this, please read How to Generate an API Key.

Once you have your account set up and your API key generated, email your API key over to Fi Nano at nano@tryfi.com to finalize your integration.

Frequently asked questions

Q.

What pet information is needed to properly register the microchip?

A.

All pet information from each field shown below is strongly suggested to be filled out under the pet's record for the registration of the microchip to go through properly.

  • Pet Name (Strongly suggested)
  • Gender (Strongly suggested)
  • Primary Breed and if needed, Secondary Breed (Strongly suggested)
  • Estimated Birthdate (Strongly suggested)
  • Weight (located under the "Medical" tab if editing, everything else is under the "Profile" tab) (Strongly suggested)

Q.

What owner information is needed to properly register the microchip?

A.

All owner information from each field shown below is strongly suggested to be filled out under the owner's record for the registration of the microchip to go through properly.

  • First & Last Name (Strongly suggested)
  • Address (Strongly suggested)
  • Phone Number (Strongly suggested)
  • Email (Required)

Do not click "Email Refused" as keeping your personal contact information up to date is crucial. The email registered to the owner's account will be the email used to send any messages from Fi regarding the pet through the secure messaging system; including messages about a lost dog. Therefore, it must be an active email address.

Q.

What type of microchips can be registered?

A.

Your organization can opt to have any brand microchip registered with Fi Nano, free for life. Fi Nano will automatically import any existing Fi Nano microchips from the Shelterluv database into the Fi database for registration. Your organization can let us know if they would like Fi Nano to automatically register, for free, any non-Fi Nano microchips that already existed upon integration.

Q.

When will my Microchip be registered?

A.

All existing microchips will be backfilled when the integration is set up. After a qualifying outcome event (adoption, return to owner, or service outcome to a person) is processed in Shelterluv, the microchip for that particular event will be fully registered.

Q.

Will I receive a notification or email when my microchip(s) have been registered?

A.

You will be able to see all of your microchips in your weekly registration email report sent from Fi Nano. You can always check your Fi Nano account under "Manage Chips" at nano.tryfi.com/manage. You will be able to check in on the chips you have in "Stock", chips that are "Active" and chips that need a "Review".

Q.

Will microchips that have already been registered duplicate?

A.

If the microchip is already registered, Fi Nano will let you know that it is a duplicate and will notify you on how to move forward.

Q.

What should I do if I was given a promotional offer for a box of free Fi Nano Microchips?

A.

If you are a new Shelterluv customer and you received the promo for a box of free chips, send an email to nano@tryfi.com stating you are a customer of Shelterluv and would like to redeem the promo.
