Each organization may treat their long-term or "hospice" foster cases differently but we have a few recommendations for utilizing Shelterluv's features depending on how you prefer that these animals impact your population and intake/outcome reporting.
Option 1: Outcome and Re-intake
If you do not want these animal's to affect your overall length of stay but still need to manage their tasks or associated people, you'll want to outcome these animals from your care, perhaps using an Adoption Outcome Subtype called "Hospice Foster." You can backdate the outcome to the date the animal went into hospice care if needed.
You'll then need to re-intake the animals using the Service Intake flow which will allow you to continue tracking their medical tasks via your Task Manager. We recommend configuring a Service Intake Subtype called "Hospice Foster" that is configured as "No" in the count towards Intake numbers column.
Our Custom Events Report on Intakes includes animals who have been intaken with a subtype that is configured to "count" towards your live intakes. Alternatively, our Custom Events Report on "Intake events not counted towards live intake numbers" allow you to report on animals who have been intaken with a subtype that is configured to "not count" towards your live intakes:

Option 2: Edit Original Intake
Some organizations want to retain custody of hospice foster animals as their "owner" instead of processing an Adoption Outcome first. In this case, you can edit an animal's initial intake event via Record Management to a different subtype that does not count towards your regular intake and outcome reporting.
Similar to the option above, you'll want to configure an Intake subtype for "Hospice Foster" that is configured as "No" in the count towards Intake numbers column. These subtypes will need to be configured under your regular Intake Types such as "Stray," "Owner Surrender," or "Transfer In."
Once you configure these, locate the animal's original intake event via Record Management in order to change their original intake subtype from one that is configured to count towards your reporting, to one your new "Hospice Foster" subtype that does not count.
For example, the original Intake Type for Goldy the cat was "Owner/Guardian Surrender" with an Intake Subtype of "Behavioral Issue." This intake event is currently set to "Yes" to count towards intake reporting but after selecting the animal, you can click the "Edit Subtype" button to choose one of your newly configured subtypes to change the original event to one that "does not count:"

Additional Information: Foster Status
In each scenario you should configure an in-foster status such as "Hospice Foster" that will allow you to filter your animal population and aid in reporting.
It's important that the configuration field of this status for "In-Custody" is set to "Yes" even if these animals are in off-site foster homes.
