The Animals tab on a person record displays a row for each animal event associated with that person. All of your intake and outcome events associated with a person (not a transfer partner) begin from this Animals tab.

This may include a row for a previously owned animal record who may later appear on another row to represent the date of the animal's intake event:

You will also see the same animal multiple times for animals who have been assigned to a foster person with one row for the date the animal went into foster and another row with the date the animal returned from foster.
