To edit a configured status, you will need to go to Configurations > General Shelter > Processing > Status Manager

You will be able to edit a status that currently doesn't have animals in it by selecting the "Edit" action button and saving that edited status.

If you try to edit a status that currently has animals in it, you will receive this error message:

If you need to edit a status that currently has animals in it, you will need to move the animals out of that status temporarily (or permanently if you are deleting the status) by following the steps below. You'll need to do this separately for In Shelter and In Foster statuses if editing multiple statuses in both of these categories.

For In Shelter statuses:

  1. Create a new In Shelter status called "Temporary In Shelter" from Configuration > Processing > Status Manager. Be sure this status is set to Yes for In Custody.

  2. Go to the main animals list. Move all In Shelter animals (those not in foster care) out of the current status and into the "Temporary In Shelter" status as a batch by using the status filter and Edit Multiple tools. This will be much faster than updating each individual status.

  3. Now that animals are out of the status you need to edit, go back to Configuration to edit the status and save.

  4. Go back to the main animals list. Move all animals in the "Temporary In Shelter" status back to the status you edited by using the filter and Edit Multiple tools again.

For In Foster statuses:

  1. Create a new In Foster status called "Temporary In Foster" from Configuration > Processing > Status Manager. Be sure this status is set to Yes for In Custody.

  2. Go to the main animals list. Move all animals out of the current status and into the "Temporary In Foster" status as a batch by using the status filter and Edit Multiple tools. This will be much faster than updating each individual status.

  3. Now that animals are out of the status you need to edit, go back to Configuration to edit the status and save.

  4. Go back to the main animals list. Move all animals in the "Temporary In Foster" status back to the status you edited by using the filter and Edit Multiple tools again.

Note: You can choose to keep the temporary statuses for future status edits or delete them and re-create them anytime in the future.
