How to Use the Shelter Animals Count (SAC) Report

Quick reports are Shelterluv's standard, prebuilt reports that you can easily run without any report building. Once run, certain quick reports can be filtered, but they cannot be edited or customized.

If you need a more customized report, please use Shelterluv's Custom Reports.

This article will cover the Shelter Animals Count (SAC) quick report under the External tab in your quick reports. You can find all of the other quick reports in the Quick Reports section of the help center.

Uploading Your Numbers to Your SAC Account

While you can easily download the SAC quick report to Excel and then manually upload it to your SAC account without any editing, SAC has built an API integration with Shelterluv to automate this process completely. This integration will save you time and remove the need to manually submit your data every month.

You can learn how to set up SAC's API integration by clicking here: Shelter Animals Count API Integration Overview

Note
Similar to other reports, this report will not include any intakes or outcomes with subtypes configured to not count toward intake/outcome numbers. Additionally, DOA intakes will not be included in this report since they are not live intakes.
You can learn more about how subtypes are configured by clicking here.

Lastly, you have the green Report Audit Export button. This button will download a detailed report and will give you insight into which animals are being counted for the beginning count, ending count, intakes, and outcomes.

The downloaded audit report file will contain the following columns:

Animal ID Animal Name

SL Intake Subtype SL intake subtype configuration (counts toward reporting?)

Beginning and Ending Count

This is the number of animals in your care at the beginning and end of the report range. The counts are split between In Shelter and In Foster Care. Please note that animals will only be considered in foster care if they were moved into the care of a foster parent and therefore had an In Foster Status on the day in question.

In a perfect world, Ending Count = (Beginning Count + Intakes) - Outcomes.
