This article will provide a complete walkthrough of processing a medical outcome for euthanasia from start to finish.

Get started by navigating to the animal record that needs to be outcomed.

Process the outcome

The outcome process varies depending on whether or not you have the shopping cart and contract configured to display in your euthanasia outcome form configurations.

Click each tab below to see what each process looks like:

• Follow these steps to process a euthanasia outcome if you do not have a euthanasia contract or the shopping cart configured to display:

  1. From the animal record, click the Medical tab.
  2. Click the Outcome as Deceased button and choose Euthanasia from the dropdown menu.
  3. Fill out your configured euthanasia outcome form and click the green Complete Outcome button.

  

• Follow these steps to process a euthanasia outcome if you have your euthanasia contract toggled on but have the shopping cart toggled off:

  1. From the animal record, click the Medical tab.
  2. Click the Outcome as Deceased button and choose Euthanasia from the dropdown menu.
  3. From here, you have the option to have the owner digitally sign the contract before proceeding, or you can print the contract and have them sign it later if that is more appropriate.
  4. [Optional] You can remove the associated person record and choose a different one if needed.
  5. Once the contract is signed or printed, fill out your configured euthanasia outcome form and click the green Complete Outcome button.

  

• Follow these steps to process a euthanasia outcome if you have your euthanasia contract and the shopping cart toggled on:

  1. From the animal record, click the Medical tab.
  2. Click the Outcome as Deceased button and choose Euthanasia from the dropdown menu.
  3. From here, you have three options
     1. Sign the contract now on your current screen before proceeding.
     2. Print the contract and have the owner sign it later if that is more appropriate.
     3. Include the contract in a Shelterpay checkout so the owner can sign the contract digitally on their device.
  4. [Optional] Toggle off the shopping cart for this specific outcome if it is not needed.
  5. [Optional] You can remove the associated person record and choose a different one if needed.
  6. If you are sending a Shelterpay checkout, you can now add any items to the cart if needed and then send the checkout to the owner.
  7. Once the Shelterpay checkout is sent, fill out your configured euthanasia outcome form and click the green Complete Outcome button.
