Process the Outcome
You can complete a return to owner outcome for any in custody animal in your account. Start by navigating to the person record the animal needs to be returned to.
- From the person record, click the Add Animal Event button and choose Return to Owner.
- If the person has associated animals currently in your care, you will have the option to choose one of those to outcome. If they don't, you will be able to choose from a list of your in custody animals.
- Check the box next to each animal that needs to be returned, and then click the green Return to Owner button.
- Complete your configured return to owner outcome form and click the green Complete Outcome button.
At this point, the outcome is complete. If you have the checkout and contract turned on for your return to owner outcome form, you will be taken to your shopping cart manager so you can add the needed charge and send the checkout to the person in order to get your contract signed and the fee paid.
You can see a complete walkthrough of the checkout and return to owner contract signing in the video at the beginning of the article.
If you have a contract you'd like the person to sign digitally, and you don't charge a fee, you can leave the shopping cart empty and send the checkout to the owner. This will display as "Free" to the person completing the checkout, and they'll be able to read and sign your contract as well as give a donation if they wish. They will not be asked for credit card details unless they opt-in to give a donation.
If you don't have your fees configured yet, you can learn how to do that by clicking here. If you'd like to see an overview of the Shopping Cart Manager, please click here.
