Through Shelterluv, all of your fosters will have access to a foster portal that they can log into. In their portal, they can update their capacity, blackout dates, and what types of animals they're equipped to foster. Additionally, they will have the option to add notes to any of the animals they're fostering, which will appear as a Foster Notes memo on the animal record.
Activate the Foster Portal
To activate a foster's portal, start by toggling on the system-default Willing Foster attribute on their person record. This can be done in the Attributes section on their profile or on their Foster Portal tab.
Once you toggle the Willing Foster attribute on, you will be prompted to email the foster their foster portal invitation.
You can learn how to add attributes to a person record by clicking here, and you can find a complete overview of the Foster Profile tab by clicking here.
Foster Portal Email Invitation
Once you send the invitation to the foster, they will receive an email like the one shown below:
They can log in with their email and the last four digits of their phone number. Their email address and phone number must match what is listed on their person record.
Capacity, Blackout Dates, and Notes
Once the foster logs into their portal, they can:
- Edit their capacity - How many animals of a specific species they can foster at once.
- Adjust their blackout dates - Date ranges where they are unavailable to foster animals, such as a planned vacation. They can add as many blackout dates as they need.
- Add foster notes - The notes they add here in their foster portal will appear on the animal record as a Foster Notes memo type.
The foster's capacity and blackout dates correlate directly with your Foster Finder. You can learn more about the Foster Finder by clicking here.
