Shelterluv makes it easy to process a born in care intake from your menu bar. Born in care intakes are unique because you do not start the intake process from a person record like your other intakes. Instead, you will start the process from your menu bar.

Process the intake

Once you have your born in care intake form and subtypes configured, follow these steps to process the intake:

1. In the menu bar, click the Intake button and choose Born in Care from the dropdown menu.
2. In your intake form, choose the parent animal, then complete the rest configured intake form.
3. [Optional] If you are processing multiple born in care intakes for the same parent, click the Create & Add Another button. This will create the first record, then open a second intake form, but will autofill all the information you entered previously, such as species, age, subtype, etc.
4. Once you've filled out the intake form for the final animal (if intaking multiple), click the green Create Record button. From here, you can view the animal profiles you created, print the kennel card, or start an intake exam.

View Litter

After you complete a born in care intake, the parent animal selected on the intake form and the newly created record(s) will be automatically added to a litter. On the animal's profile, you can click the litter icon to view the entire litter.
