Deleting Events Chronologically

Before you remove an event, it is essential to understand the order in which events must be deleted. Intakes, outcomes, foster movements, and custody changes must be deleted chronologically, starting with the most recent event.

For example, let's say you have an animal that has an intake, then an outcome, followed by another intake. If you want to delete the outcome event, you would first need to delete the most recent intake event since the intake event occurred after the outcome event.

If you didn't do this, you would have two back-to-back intakes, which wouldn't make logical sense.

How to Delete an Event

In Record Management, you will see your intake, outcome, foster, and custody transfer events. By default, this list is sorted by the most recent event first. Use the filter.svg Filters button in the top-right corner to quickly filter the list for a specific type of event, subtype, species, breed, user, or date range.

For example, if you had a microchip clinic last weekend, you could filter your list for service intakes with a subtype of Microchip Clinic for a date range of last weekend.

Follow these steps to delete an event:

  1. Click themore-overflow.svgthree dots on the right side of the appropriate animal record and choose outline-trash-delete.svg Edit/Delete from the dropdown menu.
  2. In the Edit/Delete Events form, click the checkbox next to the event(s) you want to delete, then click the red Delete Event button.

Note
If the animal has multiple events, you will notice that only the most recent event's checkbox can be clicked. You cannot delete older events until the most recent event is deleted.

Once the event is deleted, the animal record will be reverted to its prior state based on the last event. For example, if you delete an animal record's outcome event, the animal will be placed back into your custody.
