What do I need to configure before I move animals in and out of foster care?
Configuration is only accessible through a desktop or laptop. You cannot access the Configuration section on a mobile device.

How to Move an Animal to Foster Care
You can move an animal that is in your custody into foster care. You also have the option to intake a new animal directly into foster care if needed. Click each tab below for instructions on both options:

Follow these steps to put an existing animal in foster care:
- From the foster's person record, click the green Add Animal Event button.
- In the Add Animal Event form, click the Place in Foster button.
- Choose one of the foster's already associated animals, if applicable, or click the Place Other Animal(s) in Foster button.
- If you click the Place Other Animal(s) in Foster button, you will see a list of your in-custody animals that can be placed into foster care. Check the box on the left side of each animal that needs to be moved to foster care, then click the green Place in Foster button.
- In the Place in Foster form, choose the foster start date and foster status, then click the green Place in Foster button.

Each intake form in your account will have the option to intake an animal into one of your in custody locations or directly to a foster parent. Be default, you will be prompted to choose one of your configured locations, but you can click the Foster button outlined below and choose a foster parent instead.

How to Return an Animal From Foster Care
You can quickly return one animal from foster care or multiple animals at once to save time. Both user flows are slightly different, so click each tab below to view both options.

Follow these steps to return one animal from foster care:
- From the foster's person record, click the three dots on the right side of the appropriate animal and choose Return From Foster from the dropdown menu.
- Complete the Return From Foster form by choosing a date, whether the animal should be placed back in custody or with another foster parent, a new status, and a memo if needed.
- Click the green Complete Return button.

Follow these steps to return multiple animals from foster care:
- From the foster's person record, click the green Add Animal Event button.
- In the Add Animal Event form, click the Return From Foster button.
- Ensure that each box is checked next to the animals that need to be returned, and click the green Continue button.

Check or uncheck the Apply to all foster animals being returned option at the top of the form, fill out the Return From Foster form, and click the green Complete Return button.
