An associated animal is used if you want to tie an animal and person together in Shelterluv with their respective records, but do not need an intake or outcome event on the records right away. It is a shell of an animal record that can then be intaken or left as is if no intake or subsequent outcome is necessary.
What user permissions do I need to add an associated animal to a person?

Add the Associated Animal Record
Follow these steps to add an associated animal to a person record:
- From the person record, click the green Add Animal Event button.
- In the left corner of the Add Animal Event form, click the Add Associated Animal button.
- Fill out the Associated Animal form and click the green Create Record button.
How to Intake an Associated Animal
Follow these steps to intake an associated animal to a person record:
- From the person record's Animals tab, click the three dots on the right of the associated animal's name, and choose the appropriate intake type.
- Complete your configured intake form and click the green Complete Intake button.

How to Delete an Associated Animal
Follow these steps to delete an associated animal:
- From the person record's Animals tab, click the three dots on the right of the associated animal's name, and choose Delete Animal from the dropdown menu.
- Read the warning, confirm you want to delete the animal, and click the red Delete button.
Deleted animals cannot be recovered. All deletions are final.
