How to Configure Your Return/Surrender Threshold

You can configure a threshold for your adopted animals to be considered a return or an owner surrender.

For example, if your shelter's threshold is set at 30 days, this means that within 30 days after the adoption, a return will be considered an "adoption return," but after more than 30 days has passed, the return will be processed as an "owner surrender" instead.

By default, the return/surrender threshold is set at 30 days.

Click your Username > Configuration > Intakes and Outcomes > Return/Surrender Threshold to get started.

Configuring Your Return Threshold

From the Return/Surrender Threshold configuration section, you can turn the threshold on if your organization processes owner surrenders. If your adopted animals are always considered returns, you can leave the toggle off.

Once you toggle the threshold on, you will be able to adjust how many days must pass before a return should be considered an owner surrender. By default, this is set to 30 days.
