Shelterluv gives you the tools you need to easily process and release adoption holds.

Processing an Adoption Hold

Just like intakes and outcomes, processing an adoption hold starts from a person record.

Follow these steps to process an adoption hold:

1. From the person record, click the green Add Animal Event button.
2. In the Add Animal Event form, click the Place Hold button.
3. Check the box next to the appropriate animal(s) and click the green Place Hold button.
4. Fill out the Place Adoption Hold form by updating the animal's location, status, and hold expiration.
5. [Optional] If you charge for adoption holds, choose your adoption hold price group.
6. Click the green Place Hold button. If you select a price group, you will be prompted to complete a Shelterpay checkout. If not, you will be taken back to the person record that the hold was processed on.

How to Release an Adoption Hold

You have two ways to release an adoption hold from a person record. The first option works best if you are releasing one adoption hold, while the second is a better option if the person record has multiple animal records that need to be released from an adoption hold.

• Follow these steps if you are releasing a single adoption hold from a person record:

  1. From the person record, click the three dots on the right side of the animal card and choose Release Hold from the dropdown menu.
  2. In the Release Hold form, choose a new status for the animal, adjust the location if needed, and click the green Release Hold button.

  

• Follow these steps if you are releasing multiple adoption holds from a person record:

  1. From the person record, click the green Add Animal Event button.
  2. In the Add Animal Event form, click the Release Hold button.
  3. Check the boxes next to each animal that needs to be released and click the green Continue button.
  4. In the Release Hold form, choose a new status for each animal, adjust the locations if needed, and click the green Release Hold button.
