Your intake and outcome subtypes will improve your reporting capabilities and are crucial in answering the "how" and "why" for your intakes and outcomes.
For example, you may want to create stray intake subtypes called "ACO Dropoff" and "Abandoned", so you can report on these later to better understand how your stray intakes are coming into your organization. Similarly, you could create adoption outcome subtypes called "Petsmart" and "Onsite" to report where most of your adoptions are occurring and focus your efforts where they are needed most.

- Click the appropriate intake or outcome type followed by the Add Subtype button.

How to Configure Your Subtypes
After adding a new subtype, you will see several settings that you can configure.
-
Count Towards Intake/Outcome Numbers
The Count Toward Intake Numbers and Count Toward Outcome Numbers setting determines if your intake or outcome will count toward your overall intake/outcome numbers and show up in your reporting.
Generally, you will want the majority of your subtypes set to yes, but there will be specific intakes and outcomes that you want to avoid counting toward your LOS numbers or showing up in your intake/outcome reports.
For example, you would likely not want an owner-requested euthanasia intake or service intake and outcome for public services like a microchip clinic to count toward your usual intake and outcome numbers. For these specific services, ensure you have an intake subtype and a corresponding outcome subtype, both configured not to count toward your reporting numbers.
-
Live Intake/Outcome
The Live Intake setting for your intake subtypes should be set to Yes for all of your subtypes except for the subtypes you create for DOA animal records. Any intake that has a subtype set to No will automatically be intaked as DOA.
The Live Outcome setting for your outcome subtypes should be set to Yes for all outcome subtypes except for Euthanasia and Unassisted Death in Custody subtypes. All Euthanasia and Unassisted Death in Custody subtypes should be set to No. This ensures you are able to accurately report on your live outcomes for SAC and other organizations.
-
Status
The Status setting denotes if the subtype is active, archived, or marked as the default subtype. An Active status tells you that the subtype can be chosen during an intake or outcome.
Archiving a subtype should be done when you no longer use that subtype but still wish to report on it for historical purposes. You can archive a subtype by clicking the three dots on the right-hand side and choosing Archive from the dropdown menu. You can always undo this action by going back to the three dots and clicking Restore as Active from the dropdown menu.
Setting a subtype to the Default status will make that subtype appear on the intake or outcome form automatically. Use this setting if you typically use the same subtype for a particular intake or outcome to save your team time during the intake or outcome process. Click the three dots on the right-hand side and choose Set as Default Subtype from the dropdown menu to set a subtype as default.
How to Edit or Delete a Subtype

- You can make your adjustments by clicking directly on the underlined subtype name or the subtype's live intake and count settings.

- Follow these steps to delete a subtype:
- Click the three dots on the right-hand side of the subtype and choose Delete from the dropdown menu.
