Quick Fill Templates
Quick Fill Templates are a powerful time-saving tool to help users auto-fill treatment details based on your shelter's commonly used medications, such as dewormers and flea/tick prevention.
The templates you create will auto-fill the standard information you would otherwise have to type out with each new treatment form (treatment product, route, and frequency, for example).
To get a detailed overview of how Quick Fill Templates work and how to configure them, you can take a look at How to Configure Your Quick Fill Templates.
Custom Treatments
Custom treatments represent treatments that are compounded specifically for the shelter and are separate from our hard-coded master treatment list.
It is important to verify that the treatments you normally use are on the master list first before using the custom treatment section. To do this, start a new Quick Fill Template in the previous section and then search in the Treatment field for the treatment name.
Follow these steps to edit the concentration of a custom treatment:
- Click the pencil icon on the right-hand side of the custom treatment.
- Make your adjustments and click the green Save button to save your changes.
All treatment drugs are hard-coded into Shelterluv. If there are any that you cannot find on our master list, please submit them here to be added.
Frequencies and Times
The Frequencies and Times section define how often a treatment is completed and at what default time of day in Shelterluv.
With each frequency, there is a default time that the treatment will be created and will display in your task list in the Task Manager.
For example, BID treatments will be set by default to occur at 8 AM and 4 PM. Changing the times for each frequency will change when treatments appear in the Task Manager.
You can learn more about completing treatments from your Task Manager by taking a look at How to Complete Medical Tasks.
Clicking on the default times will allow you to update them to fit your organization's needs. Once the time is adjusted, click the green checkmark button to save.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Shelterluv maintains one comprehensive master list of treatment options for use across all Shelterluv customers. This is done for two reasons:
- To help our customers keep really detailed medical records that include details like drug concentrations, which ultimately means better care for your animals.
- So that we can build powerful reporting for you that can show you the animals that are due for basic things like heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, dewormer, etc. This type of reporting is only possible if the system knows exactly which treatments are considered heartworm preventatives, which are considered flea/tick meds, etc.
- You can type something like "20" or "capsules" after the treatment product name to narrow down our list to find what you are looking for, as shown below:
