How to Post Animals to Your Website with Shelterluv's Standard Iframe

Posting animal records to your website is quick and easy with our standard adoptable animals iframe.

If you want more customization when posting animals to your website, we also offer the option of using a custom iframe or our API.

The custom iframe is a great solution if you need to post specific animal lists, such as animals needing foster care, lost/found, etc.

Shelterluv's API is a great solution if you have a developer team that wants to code a completely customized solution for your website. Please keep in mind that we cannot provide support for custom-coding an animal feed with Shelterluv's API.

What user permissions do I need to configure and create an iframe?

Configuration is only accessible through a desktop or laptop. You cannot access the Configuration section on a mobile device.

iframe Settings


Before you generate your iframe, you will want to ensure the settings meet your needs. Let's look at how these settings will impact your iframe's display on your website.

  • Filters
This option is on by default and allows your potential adopters to filter your available animals to make it easier for them to find the perfect match.
  • Apply for Adoption Button
This option is on by default and will display an Apply for Adoption button on the animal's profile. If a potential adopter selects this button and submits an application, you will see the application with the animal's name associated with it in your Application Manager.
  • Donate Button
This option is on by default and will display a Donate button on the animal's profile linked to your organization's donation boost widget.
  • Hide Animal ID in URLs
This option is off by default. You can choose to have your animal IDs visible or not in the URL for their profile for privacy reasons.
  • Animal ID
This option is on by default and will display the animal's ID number on its profile.
  • Breed
This option is on by default and will display the animal's breed on its profile.
  • Sex
This option is on by default and will display the animal's sex on its profile.
  • Weight
This option is on by default and will display the animal's weight on its profile.
  • Age
This option is on by default and will display the animal's age on its profile.
  • Location
This option is on by default and will display the animal's location on its profile.
  • Adoption Fee
This option is on by default and will display the animal's adoption fee on its profile.
  • Intake Date
This option is off by default and will display the animal's intake date on its profile if turned on.
  • Animal Types
This dropdown includes all animal types by default, but you can adjust it for a specific species as needed.

This dropdown includes all intake types by default, but you can adjust it for a specific intake type as needed.

Generating the Iframe Code


Once you configure your iframe settings, click the green Generate Iframe button, which will open a pop-up with the iframe's code. From here, provide the code to someone familiar with your website's setup, who will be able to insert this code snippet into the page where you would like the iframe to display.
