Overview

Processing credit cards through Shelterluv allows your organization to do away with a separate card reader and related hardware. With Shelterpay, you can process payments on the adopter's phone (via text, email, or QR code). For a complete walkthrough, please read How to Process a Transaction Through Shelterpay

Our payment processor Stax powers Shelterpay to process credit cards on your behalf and deposit your transactions to your bank account.

Click your Username > Configuration > Onboarding and Billing > Initial Financial Setup to get started.

Set up Shelterpay

Follow these steps to start the Shelterpay activation process:

1. From the Onboarding and Billing configuration section, click the Begin Setup button under Activate Shelterpay
2. Enter the email address of the person who handles the financial part of your organization (someone with access to your organization's bank account information).

After you enter the email address, the recipient will receive an email with instructions explaining how to enroll in Stax.

The email you receive will come from help@shelterluv.com with the email subject: "It’s time to activate Shelterpay!"

Additional Notes

We can update the donation page for you to display dog-only, cat-only, rabbit-only, or generic animal donation descriptions. The default version will display a combination of both cat and dog donation descriptions. Let us know if you want your donation page updated by emailing help@shelterluv.com.

Merchant processing fees are typically 3.4% + $0.30 per transaction.

Adopters must complete 94% of adoptions via Shelterpay, our integrated mobile checkout process. Customers who operate below this threshold will be at risk of penalties or account suspension. We pledge to work with each of you to achieve 94% at your organization.
