How do I use the "Associated People" field?

If a member of the public, like an adopter or foster parent, has a spouse, partner, or roommate who is also responsible for their associated animals, you likely should add that additional person to the person's record as an "Associated Person". By adding the spouse or partner to the same record (rather than creating a separate record for them), you can have the associated people and all their associated animals all in one place.

If you're using the search bar to find a person's record, you can search by either using the main name on the record OR the associated person listed.

You can add an associated person to an existing person's record by:

  1. Clicking the green "Edit Mode" button.
  2. Clicking on the main name on the person's record.
  3. Typing in the associated person in the "Associated People" field.

You can also easily add an associated person as you create a brand new person's record. You'll find the same "Associated People" field at the very top of the form when you create a new person.
