This article will walk you through how to utilize Shelterpay for more than just your adoptions so you can take advantage of all Shelterpay has to offer through its digital and donation features. Before you can complete transactions for your services or retail items, you will need to make sure you have the following items configured and set up properly in your Shelterluv account:
|Connect your Stax account to Shelterluv|
|Configure your non-adoption shopping cart items|
|Define your departments, fund/GL codes, and cash drawers|
|Configure your checkout outcome form|
What type of items and services can I process through Shelterpay outside of adoptions?
Any service you provide and any product you sell can be completed through Shelterpay! This could be services you provide to the public such as microchips, vaccines, spay/neuter surgeries, behavior classes, and even boarding. Do have a retail store? If so, you can easily add all your retail items to your non-adoption shopping cart list and process the transactions through Shelterpay.
Using Shelterpay to process all of your service and retail transactions will significantly increase the number of donations your organization can receive from your customers.
Adding non-adoption items to your shopping cart
To begin, navigate to the appropriate person record in your Shelterluv account. Once you have the right person record, select the "Purchases" tab followed by the blue "New Purchase" button (or complete the service intake/outcome if they are paying for a service).
Once you select the blue "New Purchase" button, you will be presented with your non-adoption shopping cart items. Select the appropriate item(s) and then select the green "Add to Cart" button followed by the grey "Checkout" button.
Completing the Shelterpay checkout
Once select the grey "Checkout" button, you will be taken to your shopping cart manager. From here, you can add additional items or text the checkout link to the customer.
Once you have all the needed items in your shopping cart, select the blue "Continue with Payment" button. Doing so will allow you to quickly complete your configured checkout form.
Once the checkout form is completed, you will have the option to text the checkout to the customer by selecting the blue "Text Link" button.
Shelterluv also gives you multiple different options to complete the Shelterpay checkout if the customer does not have a smartphone or wishes to use a different method. You can see each of those options in the screenshot below.
Once you select the appropriate option, the customer will be able to:
- Review the purchase
- Read and agree to Shelterluv's terms and conditions
- Give an optional one-time or monthly donation to your organization
- Opt-in or out of the cover fees donation and submit payment details
Finalizing the transaction
Once the customer completes the checkout on their end, you will receive a green notification in your Shelterluv account and will have the "Complete transaction" option in your shopping cart manager.
Select the "Complete Transaction" button. If the customer was generous enough to give a donation, you will have the option to code the donation's department and fund along with adding a donation memo if needed. Once you have completed this form, select the blue "OK" button and add a transaction memo if needed.
From here, you will be presented with the document delivery form to either email or print the customer's receipt and any other documents associated with the transaction. Once you select the blue "Complete" button, the transaction will be completed and finalized in your Shelterluv and Stax account.
